🍂 there is so much beauty + peace to be found in the wonders of nature.

my imagination is able to run wild in its glory. it’s the place i feel most free to let my mind roam, giving leaves and flowers souls of their own - passing through to teach me something they’ve learned in their maturation.

the fall seems to bring lessons of renewal, reminders that all things must and will come to an end. and that the only thing we can count on is that change is coming and new life will find its way.

“So that's the dissenter's hope: that they are writing not for today, but for tomorrow.” - Ruth Bader Ginsburg

It is because of women like #rbg that I am able to be fully me in my lifetime.

I reflected a lot over the weekend on how her trailblazing legacy has paved the way for women and especially, for women like me. A tomboy, career-driven, outspoken women like me.

I feel nearly 100% free to fight for what I believe to be right for my team in the workplace, to push against authority (or a man) instead of fall in line, to speak out when I see something unfair or unjust and to be a working professional and a mother, one day, at the same time.

But as I said, nearly. We’re not there yet. I still experience the injustices in the workplace that don’t exist for men. I still experience the resistance from men when I speak out as if women aren’t supposed to be outspoken and opinionated. I still feel the pains everyday of my friends who long to live in a world where motherhood wouldn’t limit their professional lives in the way that it does.

And so, we must carry on your legacy, Justice Ginsburg. For you, we must dissent because you dissented for us.

We must remember that we speak boldly today so that the women behind us can speak boldly tomorrow.

They say may her memory be a blessing. We say “may her memory be a revolution.” 🤛🏻

In dissent, Notorious RBG. Let us have hope and let us do good work today.

floral friday 🌱 Anemones are making their way to the top of my favorites list. They have such personality in their wild curves and in their rich details. Their foliage collars add a sense of esteem, as if they’ve dressed for the royal ball. I just love them.

My imagination runs wild when I’m playing with flowers. As I practice and play with them more and more, I fall more in love with the healing properties they provide.

This Japanese design approach used here is called Ikebana - and it is particularly calming to me.
